A password manager is one of the simplest ways to protect your crypto and bank accounts. It lets you use a long, unique password on every exchange and email account, so one leaked password can’t unlock the rest. This guide compares three options. Prices and features change, so confirm them with the vendor before you buy.

NordPass
Good for: people who want passkey support on a free plan and a modern encryption design.
- Strengths: passkeys on every plan, including free; XChaCha20 encryption with a zero-knowledge design; independent audit by Cure53; email masking and breach monitoring on paid plans.
- Weaknesses: paid plans are billed one or two years upfront (no monthly option); no phone support; reviewers found account deletion awkward; the free plan leaves out breach scanning and email masking.

RoboForm
Good for: budget-minded users who also want strong form filling (addresses, cards, IDs).
- Strengths: the lowest listed paid price of the three; AES-256 with zero-knowledge design; strong form filling; secure folder sharing and emergency access on paid plans; a 30-day Premium trial for new accounts.
- Weaknesses: the free plan works on one device at a time and has no sharing; the desktop app lacks some features, according to reviewers; sharing only works with other RoboForm users; we could not confirm passkey support from our sources, so check with RoboForm if that matters to you.

Proton Pass
Good for: people who value open-source code and email aliases, or already use Proton.
- Strengths: open-source apps and a public independent audit; email aliases (10 on free, unlimited on paid); a built-in authenticator for two-factor codes and dark web monitoring on paid plans.
- Weaknesses: costs more than NordPass and RoboForm; no emergency access yet (Proton has said it is planned); support is by guides and email, with no live chat; several useful features are paid-only; we could not confirm passkey support from our sources.

FAQ
Should I store my crypto seed phrase in a password manager?
No. Keep recovery phrases offline, written down and stored securely. See Seed phrase do’s and don’ts.
Is it safe to store two-factor codes in the same manager?
It’s convenient, but it puts your passwords and codes in one place. For your most important accounts, consider a separate authenticator or a hardware key.
Are browser password vaults enough?
They’re better than reusing passwords, but dedicated managers usually offer more security, sharing and monitoring options.
